Career Notes:

The past two years have brought marathon success to Eunice Kirwa. In 2012 she won her debut marathon and then finished second in Amsterdam with a fast 2:21:41. This past year Kirwa ran three marathons and made the podium in Xiamen and Paris.

A talent as a junior runner, Eunice Kirwa competed at the 1999 and 2001 IAAF World Youth Championships, placing fifth and seventh in the 1500m respectively. Transitioning to the roads, she excelled in the half marathon distance winning in Rio de Janeiro three times and winning the 2012 Azkoita-Azpeitia Half Marathon in a personal best 68:39. In 2013 she finished runner up at the Lisbon Half Marathon (68:59), the Gifu Seiryu Half Marathon and the Luanda International Half Marathon.

Personal Notes:

Kirwa is married and has a daughter. Her family is very important to her and she is proud to be a Kenyan. Her dream is to win a World Marathon Majors event. Kirwa trains with a large group of athletes in Kapsabet, Kenya.
