Amane Beriso ran an impressive debut at the Dubai Marathon this past January, finishing in 2:20:48 and securing the fifth fastest debut of all time. Tirfi Tsegaye, also competing in Boston, won the race in 2:19:41. Those two times remain the fastest marathon times run this year. Over the past two years, Beriso has improved her half marathon time from a best of 1:11:50 in 2014 to 1:08:43 in 2015 at the fast Roma-Ostia Half Marathon. Her best 10K was recorded at the Langueux 10K, where she finished fourth in 32:52.

Beriso grew up in Oromia Region of Ethiopia, west of the Arsi Zone, and she now trains in Sebeta, Suluta, Sendafa, Akaki and Addis Ababa stadium. She says her father was a professional athlete, and he encouraged her to become a runner. In her free time, Beriso participates in her church community and loves watching movies.
