Fatuma Sado has been very consistent over the marathon distance, earning top finishes in Los Angeles, Warsaw, Xiamen, Hamburg, and Beijing. She says her proudest running accomplishment was when she won the Los Angeles Marathon: “I won the gender challenge there and it was a true test of who I am as an athlete, which is a fighter.” A pivotal moment in her career was when she ran a then national record of 1:07:13 for the half marathon. When she set that mark, she says she knew she could be one of the fastest women in Ethiopia.

Sado says, “In Ethiopia it is everyone’s dream to be a great runner, as our country is so rich in the history of athletics. So I started to run to be like the great ones. I am from Arsi and there is so much history of the best athletes in Ethiopia coming from our region.” When not training, Sado enjoys fashion, having coffee and tea with her family, visiting friends, and going to the cinema.

“ I am Running Bold to show the athletics world I am coming and I want to be a champion for many years!”
