One of the fastest men in the field, Getu Feleke is looking for a win in Boston this year. He ran his debut marathon in Vienna and has steadily improved. In 2010 he won the Amsterdam Marathon and followed with a runner-up spot in Rotterdam. Based on those results, he was named to the Ethiopian Olympic team for the 2012 Games, but in the marathon Feleke did not finish the race. Following the Olympics, he has finished second in Rotterdam, won Vienna in a course record 2:05:41, and placed second in Fukuoka. Feleke has a half marathon personal best time of 59:56 from the Ras Al Khaimah race in 2012.

Feleke lives and trains in Addis Ababa with his partner, Olympic gold medalist Tiki Gelana. The pair will race in Boston together this year. Before Feleke became a professional runner, he was a butcher for three years. In his spare time, Feleke enjoys reading fiction.

“To run bold we rely on building our physical and mental strength, as this is what you need to succeed in a race like the Boston Marathon.”
