Nicholas (Nick) Arciniaga is consistently among the top American finishers in some of the world’s most competitive marathons. He says his proudest running accomplishment was his seventh-place finish at Boston last year. Arciniaga made his marathon debut in Chicago in 2006, and has since found the podium three times: San Diego, Houston, and Twin Cities. He has placed top-10 at four World Marathon Majors: New York (8th and 10th) and Boston (10th and 7th). In his 2008 Boston appearance, he was also the first American man to cross the finish line. In 2013 Arciniaga was the U. S. National Champion in the marathon, and earlier that year finished top American and seventh overall in Los Angeles in rainy conditions. Arciniaga has run in two U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, improving respectively in both time and place. In Houston at the 2012 Trials, he ran a near personal best of 2:11:56 to finish eighth.
Born in Fountain Valley, California, Arciniaga graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 2006 with a B.A. in accounting. Arciniaga works part-time at Run Flagstaff, a specialty running store, and runs for Team Run Flagstaff Pro. He also coaches for Team Run Flagstaff and assists with Kids Run Flagstaff. Arciniaga is married to Carolyn and they have a dog named Luna. Arciniaga’s hobbies include reading science-fiction books and graphic novels, and going camping.
“Boston is the most desired race in the world, and I am excited to be able to race against the best runners in the world.”
