After winning the 2015 Eindhoven Marathon and setting a new personal best by over two minutes, Chebogut says he realized he was a champion and that anything is possible. At that race he beat Deribe Robi by six seconds in a final sprint to the finish. Robi is also running Boston this year. Earlier in 2015, Chebogut finished third in the Hamburg Marathon. Career wins include the 2010 Reims Marathon and the 2012 Istanbul Marathon.
Chebogut is married and has a daughter and a son. He trains in Kapkitony, which is an hour away from Eldoret. He says, “I appreciate all who helped me from the grassroots level to where I will be on April 18.
There’s a certain love, appreciation, and gratitude that you get as you gain more experience, and that makes every accomplishment feel so much better.”
“The Boston Marathon has always been a dream for me, and I am proud to be there in 2016.”
