Tadelech Bekele is a young talent seeking her first podium position at this year’s Boston Marathon. In her debut, she finished fourth at the Berlin Marathon in a remarkable 2:23:02, which was one of the fastest debuts of all time. She bettered her personal best at the 2015 Dubai Marathon to 2:22:51, and after failing to finish the 2015 Prague Marathon, finished fourth again at the Berlin Marathon. This past November, she placed fifth at the New Delhi Half Marathon in 1:08:52, just off her personal best 1:08:38 for the distance.

Bekele is looking forward to her first Boston Marathon. “This is my first time running a marathon without pacesetters after running in Berlin twice and in Dubai and Prague,” says Bekele. “I am looking forward to running on Boston’s interesting and challenging course.” Bekele is married and lives in Addis Ababa. She trains with Betelhem Moges, Ashete Bekere and Aberu Mekuria. Her nickname is Tadu
